My Trip to the Grocery Store - Part II
I did not expect to have another grocery shopping tale again. I really wish this time I did not have one. Today after getting everything and everyone in the car and strapped in, I put the cart back at the cart return and came back to the car and realized I didn't have my keys. Jared had been playing with them and I zipped them up in the shopping cart cover that I use (this is what I get for being so picky about germs). I had to go back into the store and they called the police for me. While I was waiting, the manager and some employees of the store came out and several shoppers had stopped too. People offered to go get an extra set of keys if I told them where to go or to call AAA. We really didn't have time to do that since Ryan has the only set of keys and that probably would have been at least an hour to and from his work. I tried to talk Lauren through unbuckling her car seat. She couldn't do it, which I guess I'm glad otherwise she would always be doing it. I then thought I would try getting her to try to squirm out of it. She was not very cooperative and while I was doing that two police cars showed up. One guy started trying while I signed a release form. Then the other policeman tried on the passenger side and had the car opened in just a minute. How thankful I was. One of the woman waiting by the car went and got a bottle of water she had just bought at the store and gave it to Lauren. I think from now on, I will wait to strap Lauren up until I'm ready to get in the car myself. So thank you to the wonderful Kernersville Police Department and especially to the policeman who opened up my car.

That sounds terrible! I'm glad it all worked out though
Did you ever find your keys?
Yes, they were zipped up inside the shopping cart cover.
What's a shopping cart cover anyway? Praise God that the kids were ok! How long were they in there? Was it hot out?
My cover is quilted, padded fabric that covers the seat, back, sides, front and even the bars that separate the leg openings of the cart. It keeps Jared from being able to touch the cart directly. It was in the mid 80's and the car had been sitting in the sun for about 1-1/2 hours.
Well I can honestly say nothing like that has ever happened to me! I have some stories, but none like that one. I'm glad the kids are okay.
Hey, do you live in Kernersville, NC? I just noticed that you said thanks to the Kernersville Police Dept. for helping. I have relatives in Kernersville and in Winston-Salem. Small world!
We live in Oak Ridge which is just a little east of Kernersville. Winstom-Salem is about 45 minutes from here. If you ever come down this way, make sure you let me know I'd love to see you.
